A variety of different promos and imaging elements from legendary AM top 40 station WHB (710) in Kansas City, MO. These are actual promos lifted from the master reels that belonged to WHB program director Richard Ward Fatherley, who worked at the station in 1967-’69. Also included is a short air check snippet of Richard Ward Fatherley when he was doing the morning show in 1969.

Show Notes:
Mike rapped verse one of ‘It’s Goin’ Down’ over the outro of ‘Castle Of Glass’.
Mike rapped the first verse and chorus of ‘Remember The Name’ as the intro to ‘Waiting For The End’. Chester went into the crowd on the song.
Chester went into the crowd on ‘One More Light’ and stayed there for ‘Crawling’. He later went into the crowd again for ‘Heavy’.
The band played ‘From The Inside’ instead of the song next in the setlist rotation, ‘A Place For My Head’. This broke the trend on the tour.
‘Faint’ was moved down in the setlist to the closing spot, making this the first full show since Las Vegas 2014 to not close with ‘Bleed It Out’ and the first show since Stars Of The Season 2014 that ‘Faint’ closed a show. The last full show ‘Faint’ was the closer at was Kansas City 2011.
Show Stats:
21st played in 2017
21st played for One More Light Tour
1st played in Neuhausen ob Eck
6th played in Baden-Württemberg

Lyrics:
Shut down the gold rush in my head
Because we’re out of work.
I’m living proof of compromise,
“Be back in 10”
With no return.
I’m sick of being in Houston.
I’m sick of everything I’ve been around enough to get used to.
I’m proof of consequences
And exhausting common sense.
And I kill what I build,
My common myth’s confidence.
I’m two-faced from your double exposure,
Stop right there, don’t come any closer.
I wish I was royal but I’m not.
You’ve painted your future,
But I’m just not in the picture.
Maybe I missed the frame,
Maybe I’m seconds late, always late.
‘Cause I work myself to death,
Don’t believe me? Ask Geoff.
And I’m doing alright
But is “alright” enough?
Because I’m living my dreams,
But I live at home.
‘Cause everything is on the down low
for now.
You won’t like what you see,
So keep your eyes off of me,
I fell in love with everything
That wants nothing to do with me.
I know that there’s no dealing with the way I’m feeling,
I’m so out of touch with everyone
And everything’s a blur to me.
Im ALWAYS proud to be from KC but the Kansas City Royals are taking the hometown pride to the next level! Even if you’re not a sports fan, this song is for you. We are all kings & queens ruling over our futures, happiness, success and any circumstance we encounter. #BeROYAL, i know i am.

Lyrics:
I backed my car into a cop car the other day
Well he just drove off sometimes life’sOK
I ran my mouth off a bit too much oh what did I say
Well you just laughed it off it was all OK
And we’ll all float on OK
And we’ll all float on OK
And we’ll all float on OK
And we’ll all float on any way
Well, a fake Jamaican took every last dime with that scam
It was worth it just to learn from sleight of hand
Bad news comes don’t you worry even when it lands
Good news will work its way to all them plans
We both got fired on exactly the same day
Well we’ll float on good news is on theway
And we’ll all float on OK
And we’ll all float on OK
And we’ll all float on OK
And we’ll all float on alright
Already we’ll all float on
Now don’t you worry we’ll all float on alright
Already we’ll all float on alright
Don’t worry we’ll all float on

Lyrics:
I hear the drums echoing tonight
But she hears only whispers of some quiet conversation
She’s coming in twelve-thirty flight
Her moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation
I stopped an old man along the way
Hoping to find some old forgotten words or ancient melodies
He turned to me as if to say: Hurry boy, it’s waiting there for you
It’s gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There’s nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had

One of the highlights of our 2015 European tour was Haley Reinhart’s masterful interpretation of our vintage arrangement of Radiohead’s “Creep” (originally performed on this channel by the amazing Karen Marie). I enjoyed it so much that I brought Haley into a studio in Zurich on our day off to record it. If you haven’t heard Haley sing this before, get ready for a truly remarkable performance. Oh yeah- and this was the very first take.

Mumford & Sons live at the sprint Center in Kansas City Mo. 4/17/16 singing a cover of Kansas City. I took the video but own no rights to the song or the people or anything I just like the video, song, and band.
Kansas City Man Blues – Bechet-Wilber 1947
Sidney Bechet recorded this tune some 24 years earlier with Clarence Williams Blue Five, but now in 1947 a young talented music student named Bob Wilber came to live with Bechet to learn and to become a real jazzman.
Bob aand his own band, The Wildcats, managed to record with Bechet. Here is the 1947 version of Wild Man Blues with Bob Wilber, clarinet. John Glasel trumpet, Bob Mielke trombone, Dick Wellstood piano, Denny Strong drums and Charlie Traeger bass.
(The photo comes from Bob’s 1987 book “Music was not Enough” and the photo was made Peter Tanner)
Of course Bob Wilber became almost just as famous as Bechet but already there, he had just reached the age of 19 does a sublime piece of ensemble playing, harmonizing with Bechet and doing some great solo work as well.
I have had the fortune to meet Bob and play several times with him as well. I have not been in touch with him lately but he claimed to be retired and devides his time between a nice house in Cotswolds, an area the UK and another one in the Cape Cod, all this together with his beautiful wife Pug.

North Kansas City, Mo…..
North Kansas City is a city in Clay County, Missouri, United States and is an independent municipality that is a part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The population was 4,714 as of the 2000 census but a large business/industrial base swells the daytime population by thousands more. Originally a northern suburb across the Missouri River from Kansas City, Missouri, it is now almost completely surrounded by Kansas City, which has annexed far to the north of North Kansas City’s northern city limits. North Kansas City also adjoins the small municipality of Avondale.
In 1883, Willard E. Winner came to the area with plans to build a city north of Kansas City across the Missouri River, and connect the two by a bridge. He built a rock road that became Swift Avenue and he started constructing a bridge across the Missouri River. He then purchased land and laid subdivisions in town lots. The city was well planned and built with homes, commercial houses, paved and lighted streets, a water works system and parks in advance of its inhabitants. The district was incorporated on November 4, 1912, as the Town of North Kansas City.
While 4,714 people reside in North Kansas City, the industrial/business portion of the city comprises approximately 3/4ths of the land area making the daytime population much larger.
The Fire Department has approximately 60 EMS personnel occupying two stations. The police department has approximately 40 sworn police officers and approximately 10 civilian personnel. North Kansas City has its own hospital, library and park system. Macken Park is an approximate 60-acre (240,000 m2) park with a walking trail, running track, picnic shelters, playgrounds, lighted tennis and handball courts, baseball fields, soccer fields and basketball courts. Dagg Park, located east of City Hall features picnic tables, children’s playground, wading pool, and fountain. The North Kansas City Parks and Recreation Department offers an extensive list of programs and activities year-round. The city cooperates with local merchants in providing area residents and workers with entertainment events like Northtown’s Noontime Friday in the Park concerts, parades and special displays.
North Kansas City Library, located at the southeast corner of 23rd and Howell, offers loans of books, magazines, video tapes, DVDs, and compact discs. The library is also North Kansas City High School’s media center. The library is run by the city and is not a part of the Kansas City Public Library or the Mid-Continent Public Library systems. North Kansas City Hospital, founded in 1958, is a primary acute care center with 451 beds.

Oh yes! “There was Blues!” This is just one song from an amazing night of blues in celebration of the 94th birthday of legendary bluesman Little Hatch. “The Hatchlings,” 14 musicians took the stage that night, blending into one seamless, morphing band. The drummer, C. Jaisson H. Taylor played for more than 3 1/2 hours without ever leaving his seat.
Alice’s birthday usually falls during the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Annual Leadership Conference. This year was in Kansas City so naturally Alice’s Birthday involved “Blues, Brews and B.B.’s Lawnside BarB-Q. Alice and I invited 5 fellow fundraisers from around the world to join us in celebrating her birthday.
So lucky that it was a night of musical tribute recognizing another birthday, that of legendary bluesman “Little Hatch.” We were blown away to learn that 14 of his former bandmates and fellow musicians were coming together to form “The Hatchlings” and play in his memory. We couldn’t tear ourselves away and by the time the music came to a close it was just us and Little Hatch’s musical family shutting down the joint.
Enjoy!

Hello,
The blues are here to stay…
This was one of the first memorable phrases for me when I became interested in the blues. At the time British bands and musicians started playing the blues; first original pieces and then their own. The early heroes included Alexis Korner, John Mayall, Georgie Fame and The Blue Flames, Long John Baldry. Many rock bands borrowed from the blues, playing original pieces. It went so far that the term “White Blues” became prevalent and since then the question has been raised: whether white musicians can even play the blues at all?
Two LPs were part of every collection of The Black and White Sampler from Polydor, folding cover, pressed on white vinyl. One side had the new white bands, the other side had the black originals. And then a 3-LP set with Chess recordings, packed in a round tin can as was usually the case with reels of film, released in Germany by “Twen” magazine. We could finally listen to the original “Spoonful”. These two records showed us the way to the roots. There was also, unforgettably, The American Folk Blues Festival, which toured Europe every year. This was an attempt to cover the spectrum of the blues and send a variety of musicians and styles on tour together. Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee met up with Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker and T-Bone Walker with Memphis Slim. Blues musicians often performed at The Berlin Jazz Days. There have been a series of radio broadcast series on this topic; TV has tried repeatedly to present the roots of the blues to us. That’s already history, like Janis Joplin buying a gravestone for Bessie Smith and Janis’ record company Columbia releasing five double LPs with everything from Bessie Smith.
The youtube channel Blues People and the Spotify playlist offer a wide range of the blues. Early 1920’s recordings, Bessie Smith of course, but also Etta James from the sixties. Lots of Chess Blues, Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, also B.B. King and John Lee Hooker. The legendary Robert Johnson and his 29 recordings. The king of the Delta Blues meets Chicago. Alberta Hunter, another major blues lady. Leadbelly, Lightin Hopkins, Charley Patton… Non-stop namedropping.
Everyday I have the blues.
You can hear, feel the blues with us every day. You can search for its roots, or just be relaxed and click on a playlist.
Subscribe to our channel and you wont miss out on anything.
