.: Yellow Brick Road band :: “Superstitious” :: Kansas City :.

Remember the 1970’s? You couldn’t explore the clubs in Kansas City – or anywhere in the Midwest or even LA for that matter – without bumping into Yellow Brick Road. YBR mixed it up like nobody’s business – and while they may not have been everybody’s cup of tea, there was simply no argument that they covered a wide range of styles – pop, rock, jazz, funk, show tunes, vocal novelty pieces – like there was no tomorrow. Alan Manning surrounded himself with only the best – from his stagemates to his keyboards – and everyone came for a free lesson in How It’s Done. Here, the resurrected YBR Rewind band plays a rousing, rambling “Superstitious” with Brion Leftwich plonking the bass, Andy Hambleton beating the hydraulic skins, and the incomparably entertaining Terry Swope reinventing the guitar fretboard. It was a great night – sorry you missed it!
